Stay at the 1837 Cobblestone Cottage B&B for two nights and take an afternoon 1 ½ hour excursion on the Canandaigua Lady Paddlewheel Boat on beautiful Canandaigua Lake either day.

Excursion is from 2:30 PM – 4:00 PM Daily.

The Canandaigua Lady is a 19th century replica of a double-decker paddlewheel boat operating from Steamboat Landing. The “Lady” is a proud successor to locally famous steamboats that operated on the Finger Lakes between 1820 and 1930. The sixty-ton Mississippi-style paddlewheel presents a nostalgic decor accented with teak and oak woods, brass fixtures, draperies and carpeting that fondly recalls days of yesteryear. At one time, there were 19 steamboats that operated as the primary means of transportation, as there were no roads along the lake at the time. The Canandaigua Lady has recently been renovated and remodeled with brand new bathrooms, carpeting, paint, heat, air conditioning and an Americana Theme.

The Granger Homestead has guides that are available during tour hours to walk you through the mansion, the Victorian garden, law office, two carriage barns and the agricultural barns. Many docents have wonderful stories and anecdotes to share about the family and the history of the mansion and carriage barn. Gideon Granger (1767-1822) 
Born of New England Yankee stock in Suffield, Connecticut, Gideon Granger was active in state politics during the years of the American Revolution and the Constitutional Convention. A staunch supporter of Thomas Jefferson, he was named Postmaster General when Jefferson took office as President in 1800, and continued to serve under President Madison until 1813. After resigning from office, Granger moved to Canandaigua and resolved to build a Homestead that would be “unrivaled in all the nation”, from which he could administer the many land tracts he had acquired further to the west. After his arrival, Granger became influential in local affairs. Although he died in 1822, succeeding generations of the Granger family played an equally important part in the growth and development of the Canandaigua area.

The Sonnenberg Mansion
Perched atop the sun-bathed hill of the estate known as “Sonnenberg” (German for “sunny hill”) is a 40-room Queen Anne-style mansion. New York City bank financier Frederick Ferris Thompson and his wife, Mary Clark Thompson, the daughter of New York State governor Myron Holley Clark, purchased the property in 1863 when it featured just a brick farmhouse on 14 acres.
As business prospered, the couple purchased additional acreage and replaced the farmhouse with the mansion, which was built between 1885-1887. Today, visitors can view many of its stately rooms, including the impressive Great Hall, the Billiard and Trophy Rooms, the Library, Drawing Room, Dining Room, and upstairs, the Master Bedroom and several additional guest rooms.
The Mansion is handicap-accessible throughout the first floor. A number of special events throughout the Garden Season are hosted on the wide porches of the Veranda, which encircles the south and west sides of the Mansion. A 2009-2010 restoration project, will restore the historic masonry and foundation supporting this heavily-used public event venue.
Sonnenberg Gardens & Grounds
Much of the signature floral design and landscaping seen today at our nine formal gardens bears the imprint of philanthropist Mary Clark Thompson, who brought home ideas and art from her many trips to European and Asian locales. Following the 1899 death of her husband, Mrs. Thompson involved hundreds of workers between 1902 and 1919 in a re-design of the gardens. She was assisted primarily by Boston landscape architect Ernest Bowditch, and later, his assistant John Handrahan.
